To improve the quality of life for all people, of all walks.
Quality of Life is the absence of conspicuous consumerism, of unnecessary and expensive features that in too many cases detract from the functionality of the design in favor of fashion. This is true for context sensitive transportation facilities as well as for communication materials. A well designed and direct path between Point A and Point B, whether it's from home to school, or business to consumer, will always win out in the long run, saving time, money, and frustration.
Good design is simply simple, if not always easy, regardless of the project. Moving people and moving ideas (and commerce) are best accomplished with an economy of production, no matter how complicated the problem. Simple solutions are always more sustainable than the complicated ones, resulting in a beauty of utility not dependent upon today's fashions, but upon timeless ideas about economy and appropriateness (and safety).
Whether its a neighborhood or a corporate identity program, a highway pedestrian crossing or an annual report, clarity, simplicity, and functionality will improve the quality of your environment... for people of all walks.

P.M. Summer was the Transportation Alternatives Coordinator - Urban Transportation Planner for the City of Dallas Department of Public Works and Transportation, and the Department of Sustainable Development and Planning, until retirement, from 1991 to 2010. Mr. Summer was the second person to fill that position on a full-time basis in Dallas.
The Transportation Alternatives Coordinator's position in Dallas was intended to promote the use of bicycles and walking as an alternate element in a true multi-modal transportation system. Attached to the Transportation Planning Department of Public Works and Transportation, Mr. Summer's approach was to better utilize the excellent existing street grid in Dallas by utilizing the five E's of bicycling transportation programs (Education, Engineering, Enforcement, Equality and Encouragement). Mr. Summer has worked with Dallas Area Rapid Transit, the North Central Texas Council of Governments, citizen groups, police, transit, and local, state, and federal governmental agencies.
During his tenure with the City of Dallas, Mr. Summer secured almost $40,000,000 for bicycle and pedestrian projects from Local and Federal transportation and air quality funding programs, and $25,000,000 for existing and future streetcar lines. Under Mr. Summer, the vehicle trip mode share for bicycles doubled from 2000 to 2010.
